When Will My Cat Go Outside On His Own?

My kitten is 12 weeks old now when i go outside he sometimes will follow me but not for long, when he sees other cats he gets scared, when should he go out on his own and be ok with the outside world, i dont have a back garden so he can only go out the front, i dont live on a main road so its quite safe for him. Will he go out when hes ready?

Cats usually take some time to adjust to new environments. I would suggest going out with your kitten until it is at least 6 months old if not older. Your kitten is a little too small to know how to defend itself if something like a dog came up and attacked it. Wait til they are full grown to let them go out on their own.
