Pascal is basically a procedural programming language that was developed and designed by Niklaus Wirth in the year 1968/69. It was developed to encourage good programming practices by use of structured programming and data structuring.

Pascal is based on the AlGOL programming language. The word Pascal is not an abbreviation. In fact this name is a tribute to the French Mathematician and Philosopher Blaise Pascal.
