'Just a Little Fun' was written and recorded by the blues guitarist Walter 'Furry' Lewis in 1969. The song was part of the album, 'Fourth and Beale' that was released in 1971.
The song was actually part of a session that Furry did at his home in Memphis on March 5th, 1969. He was alledgedly in bed and it was essentially an impromptu concert for the microphone and whoever happened to be there.
Walter 'Furry' Leis was born in Memphis on March 6th 1899 and died September 14th 1981. He was initially most succesful in the 1920's with his song-telling style of blues, soft voice, repetitive riffs and subtle slide guitars. However, he did not achieve fame and fortune due to the majority of his success being limited by the fact that his records were sold cheaply to the poor African American market at that time.
In the 60's, Furry underwent a period of being 'rediscovered'. Furry went on to open twice for the Rolling Stones and also appeared in the Burt Reynold's movie. 'W.W. and the Dixie Dance Kings'.
He is buried in the Hollywood Cemetery in South Memphis, where his grave bears two headstones. A large one, purchased by fans, towers over the original marker that bears simply the epitaph "Bluesman".
