Try to treat him more as a brother or friend. Be firm but fair. When people see you my two sons and me get on, they think we are more like mates. Don't believe everything you hear about them without sitting down and asking their version of events too. Reward good behaviour rather than punish bad behaviour. This will do for a start. Lol
