I have the removal/installation socket but it keeps slipping off

The socket is slipping off then don't do it yourself because doing it in the same way can damage the heads of bolts and other stuff you are trying to open. Get it done from the workshop.

Unless you are a certified mechanic and have experience with a Northstar engine, it would be best advised that you don't try to do anything to it.
