How Do You Find Out If You Have Unclaimed Money And Where It Is Coming From?

Answer Question

To find out if you have any unclaimed money or property, you can check the city's library and check the microfiche records. If that particular branch does not have the records, you can ask the librarian for any other branch. You can also check with the State Controller's office by calling them and giving your name. They will give you the information over the phone itself. If your name is mentioned, they may ask you some questions based on formality such as your previous residence. Every state in the U.S.A. does its best to find out the owner of an unclaimed fund or property. It sends letters to the last known address of the person and advertises in the newspapers once or twice in the year.

My buddy Russ at unclaimedmoney.net told me searching the library is incorrect. Complete listings are available at most State Comptrollers unclaimed property offices. Ask me and I'll send links.

I do not agree they are doing their best. It is so easy to find people these days, if they really wanted us to have our money, they would trace us down like they do when we owe taxes.
