Clothes Dryer. What To Do ? Does Anyone Have Any Advice?

My dryer quit (an Amana that was only 5 years old and had it fixed once before) I bought a Whirlpool and it just barely gets warm. It took 1 1/2 hours to dry a load of dish cloths. It is going back but now I don't know what to do. I don't want to take the chance on another Whirlpool or Ammonia and I hear GE is in trouble. I'm thinking about Samsung. Any advise?

It sounds like your latest washer is new.Call the store where you bought it and tell them to come and get it!  I think services have declined across the board!  The last time I bought a drier, I got the info from Consumers Guide, and generally I take their advice, however I'm not sure they're  a hundred percent now.

I did go back to Lowes and bought a different brand and they are delivering the new washer and dryer and taking the new one back that wasn't working. I have always bought the extended warranty through Lowes and with the Amana set I had used it twice, it was a life saver so I also bought the extended warranty on the new set. I've never had a Samsung but they have a good reputation and I have a Samsung TV that has never given us any problems so hopefully this will work out as well. Thanks for all your input.

I think there all about the same as far as brands. Have you checked your lint trap on the back of dryer that goes outside? Make sure you clean it out check it once every 2 wks or so and also the lint trap in front. If the inside of the dryer is hot or cold the element probably went bad. These are things I have experienced with dryers.

The biggest problem here was that I bought the Whirlpool day before yesterday so it was brand new and it still didn''t work right. I went today and bought a Samsung pair. Wish me luck!

It isn't going to matter if it is brand new or not.........if the lint traps or the duct work leading to the outside of the house is blocked.....you will have a difficult time getting your clothes dry in one cycle. Like I said, I've been there done that, buying the new dryer, calling out a technician and everything........... he's the one that told me about the clogged lint ducts......the same thing happened to my sister......continuing to try to dry your cloths with ducts or lint traps blocked WILL burn out your heating element. It is definitely worth a check. Mine was difficult to get to but since learning this information, I keep it cleaned out.

Another thing to check.....check the WHOLE duct work leading to the outside of house.  Over time, regardless of how good the lint traps (front or back), the lint "attaches" to the sides of the duct work, condensation forms, then along comes another dry cycle which adds more lint which brings on more condensation.....etc.  Anyway the lint will build up and prevent your clothes from drying.  BEEN THERE DONE THAT!!!!  Good luck!  Janes
