In most cases it probably comes down to curiousity and superstition.

However, if you were faced with the prospect of dying of thirst (if you were in the desert with no other water supply), you might not be so fussy.

Some cultures, though, have a tradition of drinking their own wee, because of perceived health benefits. Increasingly, there are many websites devoted to the idea.

The fans can claim (with some justification) that urine contains minerals, proteins, vitamins and vital bodily salts. It has ani-viral qualities, chemicals in it which may boost the immune system, and (it's further claimed) drinking it may be useful for fighting cancer.

Against these claim:, rigorous clinical studies supporting the idea of benefits from drinking one's own fresh wee do not exist. Moreover, whatever good things are diluted in urine, it's also bound to contain toxins that the body is trying to get rid of. So drinking one's own wee could cause these same toxins to dangerously accumulate, causing extra work for the kidneys.

If you did want the "goodness" out of your wee, it would be better to filter out the toxins first. And also, any infectious agents you didnt' know you had.

Actually, it would be easier (and less smelly) to just make the good stuff in a lab, wouldn't it?
