    It is illegal to change locks on a rental property without the permission of the landlord. You need to get a permission first before to try something of this sort. And you never know your landlord might ask for a key to the property.

    This is Completely wrong information. Under the UK Housing act of 1988 & tenant may change their locks at any time, even without provocation, if the tenant belives that their security is at risk. Check the LAWS Aicha before you give bum advice.
