How To Configure LAN?

That is very interesting question and it has very detailed answer. But I'll tell you here some basics of connectivity, because it is very difficult to define all the things here. So I'll tell you only which things that will you need to build a very small scale of LAN (Local Area Network).

For a very simple network structure, first of all you need a system with minimum of these requirements "Processor 3.0 MHz, RAM 1G.B, Hard Disk 40 G.B" now the configuration is depends on the requirements of what you want to do with this server. Secondly you need some necessary equipment like UTP cable or STP cable, Switches, hubs, LAN cards, workstations for clients, and the very basic thing internet connectivity. It can be broadband, satellite, dial-up or in the form of DSL. Having these things you can establish a very small network for the purpose of internet connectivity only.

You can't use this infrastructure for a large scale networks, like data base server, e-mail server, exchange server etc. because they need very big amount of memory and resources from the system and the system I mentioned above will not fulfil the requirement of the large scale LAN network.
