What Does Teton Mean?

Teton is the name of a county in United States. It is located in the US state of Wyoming. Wyoming is a place situated in the western side of United State. It is the least populous state in US. Teton County is most well known for the prosperous Jackson Hole. It is a valley and its name is derived from David Edward Jackson, a mountain man who lived here in the early 19th century. It is called a hole because anybody entering this valley gets the sensation of entering a hole because of the presence of very steep slopes along side the valley. It is a very famous tourist spot now and a very popular skiing area.

Jackson a town in Jackson valley is the county seat of Teton County. Teton County has a population of 18,251 residents as per the 2000 census. This county is considered as a stronghold of the Democratic Party in a predominant Republican State. This county was formed in the year 1921. It is also a border for another county with the same name which is based in another state i.e. Idaho.
