Dark Series is the fictional writings of the author Christine Feehan. In these books she introduces to the world the species of "Carpathians". These species look like humans and talk like humans but they are not humans. They live on human blood. However they are not the violent type that has to kill humans in order to drink their blood.
Well now the only problem is that the Carpathian race is coming close to extinct. The newborns have a difficulty in surviving more than a year. And worse there is and even smaller population of the female type. So now the frustrated male population are slowly losing their senses and there is only one happy feeling that makes them alive is the act of killing a human but that turns them to a vampire.
Thus now they have only two options in front of them one is to become a blood sucking vampire and the other is to welcome death.
