Babur was first betrothed at the age of 6 to Princess Aisha of Samarkand. However they grew up to heartily dislike each other. Infact she left him soon after marriage (very unusual for a Muslim woman). Babur soon took other wives. Zainab Begum was the first to replace Aisha, but she soon died of small pox. His 'Big Love' was Maham, the mother of Humayun. He called her, his first and main wife, "my Moon". His second wife was Gulrukh - mother of prince Askeri and Kamran. His third wife was Dildar and the last wife was Mubarika Bibi.
