What Is Muscle Dysmorphia?

    Muscle Dysmorphia is sometimes otherwise known as bigorexia and it affects people by making them think that they are too small. It is basically the complete opposite of anorexia and instead of trying to lose weight; sufferers try and gain it to become bigger built. Studies have shown that people suffering from the disorder clearly do believe they are too small and they constantly lift weight, do resistance training as well as exercising compulsively to try and make themselves bigger.
    The condition affects both men and women and depression plays a big part in the illness too. People who do suffer from the condition tend to fail to lead a normal life and they generally cannot relax. Treatment includes cognitive therapy, though it seems that most sufferers do not seek help for their problem. Overall the condition is part of the body Dysmorphia illnesses and it is a compulsive disorder. It is not something sufferers can control and it can become unbearable at times.
