Penicillin was discovered due to a slight lab accident when researcher, Alexander Fleming, left a tray of staphylococcus bacteria in the lab uncovered for some days. When he came back he saw the entire dish was filled with bacterial growth except of a small patch that was uninhabited. When he investigated, he found that this place was occupied by Penicillin notatum and it had powers to prevent bacterial growth. This was discovered in 1928 in London. Alexander Fleming was Scottish biologist born in 1881and he excelled in the field of pharmacology and he was a writer as well. His fields of interest were bacteriology and immunology. He had been working to find an anti bacterial agent as he had seen so many soldiers die in wars due to infections.
