Because europeans wanted to trade goods and they wanted to spread their religions around the world, to make people believe their religion. They also explored because they are curious, they wanted to find out about the world around us, we wanted to know something new.
Another one of the key reasons for early exploration was probably because we need to find food or to move away to another country. THis is called colonisation, some people move away because of climate change.
