Who Are The Scientist Who Discovered The Microscope?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Zaccharias Janssen and his son Hans, while experimenting with multiple lenses in a tube around 1590 in Holland, discovered that nearby objects could be greatly magnified. That was the origin of the modern compound microscope. In 1609, Galileo Galilei made a better version which included a focusing mechanism. Thirty years or so later, another Dutchman, Anton van Leeuwenhoek, developed this basic principle into instruments of great power which he used to make numerous scientific discoveries, and he is generally known as the father of microscopy
