The term IQ describes the score derived from a set of intelligence tests. It is used as a measurement of general intelligence. They tend to be an indicator of intellectual development in the future. This future development includes the level of educational achievement. There is also a correlation with IQ and job performance. It appears that people who have a higher IQ score tend to be more successful in their careers. Some other areas where IQ has been seen to be an indicator of success are socioeconomic advancement, and social pathologies. Recent research has shown links between IQ and health, longevity, and functional literacy. An IQ score is not an overall measurement of intelligence, however. For example, creativity is one form of intelligence that an IQ test will not measure. Also, IQ scores are a relative measurement, rather than absolute. There are other tests as well that measure these other factors of intelligence.
