What Are The Rules Of Archery?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Archery is played using a bow with a high tension string attached to it which is employed to shoot projectiles, specifically arrows at targets set at fixed distances. Traditionally the best bows were yew bows and arrows were made mostly of wood.

Now the rules for archery are laid down by the "Federation Internationale De Tir A L'Arc" or the "International Archery Federation" abbreviated to "FITA". The various disciplines are: Outdoor Target Archery, Indoor Target Archery, Field Archery, Ski Archery, 3-D Archery, Run Archery
    Flight Archery and Clout Archery

Each category or discipline has specific targets set at prescribed distances and slightly alternating rules governing conduct. The aim in each however, is to perform better and more accurately than ones opponents.

Bows and arrows were traditionally implements of war and hunting and were made famous by Robin Hood and the Mongol hordes.
