Where Is Klondike Situated?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

On the borders of Alaska, Klondike is situated in the remote region of northwestern Canada.  Now this area has become part of the Yukon Territory.  The capital of Klondike is Dawson that is located on the bank of the Yukon River.

There was a time when Dawson was a bustling town of activity.  The town's population reached the figures of 10000, nevertheless this abundance of people was the thing of the past.  Today the same town has a population that has dwindled to even less than a thousand people.  The main reason behind this decline in population is actually the decline in gold in the town of Dawson.  The gold reserves were a promising reason for people to be persuaded to live in such frozen areas with little and sometimes no conventional facilities.  As the gold reserves diminished in their amount, the population decreased as a direct consequence as well.
