A city and county seat in the Ford County in the state of Kansas is attributed with the name of Dodge City.
The population of the city as declared in the census of the year 2001 was only 25,176, but the city was quite famous since long time. The reason for it being so famous should be attributed to a drama program called Gunsmoke which was set in the city itself.
Earlier the city was famous for serving as the way from where the Longhorns from Texas were carried to other parts of the country. It was splenic fever that people locally used to call the Texas fever was responsible for the prohibition of that traffic and make the longhorns quarantined in a particular area.
