North Carolina is the name of a State in America which is located on the Atlantic Seaboard in Southeastern United States.
North Carolina was amongst the original thirteen colonies. It was the site of Mississippian culture established as early as 1000 A.D Spanish explored this area and tried colonization of this area.
It was known as Virginia before the invasion of the English. Sir Walter Raleign established two colonies here upon the order of the queen in the year 1584. However both of these colonies failed.
In 1663, King Charles II of England granted a charter for establishment of a new colony in this area. And another charter separated North and South Carolina.
