Talywain is a very old cultured rural area. It falls between the villages of Garndiffaith, Pentewyn and Abersychan. This area has very mesmerising and long heritage in the art of Rural Mining and Education. The NCB or the British Coal (the old British Coal Mining site) site was a very demanding source for income for the village. It was also a source of income for the people of the village as they could easily get jobs in the mine or quarry. The mine was one of the most Pro Active mines. The mine would consistently produce huge amount of coal for more than half a century, but the mine had to be shut down in the year 1974 in the month of May; the reason being that the mine was not safe for working.
