Transverse wave is a moving wave that consists of oscillations occurring perpendicular to the direction of propagation of the wave. A transverse wave passes through a matter by transferring disturbance to the particles of the solid. The particle moves up and down on its mean position and then transfers its disturbance to the next particle. This particle disturbs the next and so on. There is no shape moving and wave motion. In this way a transverse wave pass through the matter.hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu
