Shepton Mallet is town sited in Somerset, southwest England. The Mendip Hills lie at its southern tip. Wells is five miles west of Shepton Mallet. Somerset, a county town, is surrounded by Bristol County and Gloucestershire County on its northeast, Wiltshire on its east, Dorset on its southeast and Devon on its southwest. The British Channel lies to the north of the county. It is positioned at 51.00'49" N latitude and 3.06'23" W longitude.
Shepton Mallet holds a population of 8441. The town's first name is Anglo-Saxon in origin. In 1100, Henry I granted Shepton Malet to the Malet Family. East Somerset Railway Line runs via the Shepton Malet (High Street) Station. This line further connects to Wells and to a branch line of Bristol and Exeter Railway. There is another train station, Shepton Mallet Charlton road station. Some areas near Shepton Mallet hold festivals like: Glastonbury Festival (Pilton), Royal Bath and West Show (Evercreech) and Mid-Somerset Show.
