A Basketball Player Shot 70 Times. The Number Of Missed Shots Was 6 More Than The Number Of Baskets. How Many Baskets Did The Player Make?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    Let x = the number of baskets made
    and x + 6 = the number of missed shots.
    We know there was a total of 70 shots, and the number of baskets made + the number of missed shots will give you the total.
    So,
    x + x + 6 = 70
    2x + 6 = 70
    2x = 64
    x = 32.
    Since we represented the number of baskets made by "x" itself, this is our solution: 32 baskets.
