If you have a good paying job and a credit history it may work,it may go by states as to your age,the only draw back is if your parents decide to sue someone for renting to you or if you turn out to have a problem paying and claim the under 18 thing and the land lord will be out money. Your parents could sign the lease and be responsible for paying even if you give your own money to them,or you could have a room mate to help derail some of the expenses. I have no clue why you can't discuss this with your parents. So this is just my response and no way a sign of GO, OK Good Luck

These are some things you should consider and think through, before going full force ahead.

Under the law, a lease is a legal document. Under the law, you are required to be at least 18 years of age to legally sign a legal document. However, some states allow 17 year olds to sign legal documents, as long as your parent(s) co-sign the document with you. This way if something should happen, at least the person who had you sign the document, has a way of getting what is owed them. I'm not really sure about this, or what states allow this, so please DO NOT QUOTE ME!!! I would say, it is in your best interest to talk to your parents or a lawyer about what is legal and what is not legal in the state you reside.

At seventeen you are still considered to be your parents responsibility, and you are not recognized as an adult..if this is due to you and your parents having problems sit down and talk it over with them, you still have lots of growing and learning to do not to be mean and i don't think you have any idea what it takes to be responsible for a home of your own, there are lots more to  it then just paying the rent, utilities, food, emergency money, go talk to your folks and see if you cant work something out, and before you move out you might want to try and pay your parents for rent and help out on bills to see what you are really getting into, if you are grown up enough to move out on your own be grown up enough to talk this over with them, if they think its right for you then maybe they will give you some help and guidance good luck hon

Look up emancipation laws in your state and talk to a lawyer about getting yourself emancipated. In this way, you will be treated like an adult even before you turn 18 and your parents will have no power over you.
