What Is A Landfall Land?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Landfall land refers to the place where a tropical cyclone moves to after being previously on the water. In a tropical cyclone, the landfall land is the point at which the center of the storm's eye comes on the shore. The landfall is the place which is vulnerable to maximum damage by the tropical cyclone. Since there is not much damage that can be done when the cyclone is hitting the water, the landfall land is witness to the biggest amount of damage.

After the tropical cyclone hits the land, the power of the storm weakens but since the landfall land is the next immediate thing on the shore for the cyclone to hit after being on water, this area suffers the most. Landfall also refers to the area of the seacoast that is first seen from the water. The "first sight of the land" when seen from the water is known as the landfall.
