I have worn acrylic nails in the past. I have removed them, but my nails are very ugly with fungus.

Fingernail fungus can destroy the beauty of your nails completely. There are a number of remedies for this fungus, some of which are made from natural ingredients and you can try and make at home. I recommend 100% tea tree oil, applied to the underside of the cut edge of your fingernail with a 'cotton bud'. Since it is your fingernail, you will need to be careful not to put your fingers to your eyes or mouth after applying the oil.
There should be no harm in doing this daily, but three times a week will work, until the fungus-affected part of the nail has grown out.
This was an inexpensive and successful remedy for me after two purchases of very expensive pharmaceutical preparations failed.

There is also an over the counter product called Fungi nail. You have to lightly file the tops of your nails before applying it so that the solution will soak into the nail. I haven't tried the Lamisil tablets but have heard that they work well.
