What Are Bean Sprouts Sprouted From?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Bean sprouts from beans (though some are from seeds). Radish, garlic Mung, green lentils, fenugreek, clover, sunflower, broccoli, alfalfa and mustard are all suitable for sprouting. Mung is the most widely consumed sprout in the world.
To make beans sprout is very simple, all you have to do is to take some Mung, wash it clean and soak it for a couple of hours preferably in warm or tepid water. Rinse the Mung and change the water. In all, the Mung should be soaked for about 12 hours. Keep in mind that the Mung will soak up the water and so, it should have enough water at all times. There are Sprouters available in most markets that are very helpful. Rinse the sprouts thoroughly and drain them completely. They are very crunchy and can be eaten raw with a few herbs and spices or they can be put in a soup for added flavor and nutrition.
Sprouting beans with children can be a great learning activity and they generally are a lot more open to eating their sprouts if they have grown them themselves.
