How Old Do Your Female Boxer Dog Have Too Be To Breed?

Answer Question

Dogs experience their first heat cycle at 6-12 months of age.  It is best to wait for their second or third heat cycle so your dog has finished its development.  Also by this point screening can be done for certain developmental diseases like hip and elbow dysplasia.
Talk to your veterinarian about your dog's health status and to make sure your dog does not have any problems that can be passed on to the puppies.  They can also discuss how to keep her healthy during pregnancy and how to raise healthy puppies.  I always tell people to set aside several thousand dollars if they plan to breed in case your dog needs an emergency C-section.

Dogs usually get first heat cycle after 6-8 years of age Breeding of dogs is not a easy job. Many health tests are required before breeding a dog. Some tests can be done at 2 years age of the dogs. Boxer dogs should be tested for heart and hip dysplasia before breading. Ideal age of female boxer for breeding is at least 2 years.
