Who Started The First Zoo?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

"Zoo" is a short form of "zoological garden". A zoological garden is a place where living animals as well as wild animals are kept and exhibited. Zoo is a kind of school for learning about both animals; and people that by watching the things animals do, what they eat, how they grow etc. This may be the explanation why the first zoo was named "intelligence park". It was begun as long ago as 1150 B.C. by a Chinese king. It probably wasn't open to public. The first real zoological garden was opened in Paris in 1793. It was famous by the name Jardin des Plantes. The next big zoological garden was opened in Regents Park, London in 1829. Then came the Zoological garden of Berlin, was begun in 1844 and became one of the best in the world. In the United States the first Zoo was opened in 1874 in Philadelphia and the second one was opened in 1875 in Cincinnati.
