In What Year Were Candies Created?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It is difficult to tell what year was candy created but the traces of its creation go back to the medieval period, when the cave man created the first candy in about 1200 B.C. by eating honey combs. Cocoa was grown around the same time by Olmec Indians. Evidence of chocolate drinks was found in their tombs since 250 B.C. However, cocoa was first tasted by the Europeans in 1500's by the Spanish Explorers.

By the beginning of the 17th century, the trade of cocoa WA in full swing and hot cocoa has already become popular. The Dutch made their first cocoa in 1828 and came up with an idea to solidify chocolate in order to make candy. As developments in this field took place, a chocolate bar was created in 1864 along with a first candy store which was also opened in the same year.
