Microsoft sends out new updates when needed or thought of. Some are updates to programs installed on your computer, some are patches to fix a problem on your program. If not sure what your doing check out microsoft com to get a list of their current updates. Never load anything that is not certified by microsoft or whichever operating system you are using. I have not myself received any update notifications. Except from Java.
