I would like the Blurtit staff to add a feature to the site where you can send messages to your friends privately, so everyone wont see what you are talking about or so that you can address someone about something privately.

Yeah, you' ve got the idea.
You can do that with the "Share with a user" feature on your profile page. The message goes to the e mail address registered with Blurtit. It's not IM, but it is private.
While I do love the site, I would have to say that I shouldn't have to lose points when I answer and later find out that the question was removed. I should be able to keep my points, I earned them, and it isn't my fault that the question was removed.

First of all, this site is too low tech. I think the shout box and the "latest questions" feature need to be live instead of having to press refresh. Secondly, you can't modify your profile to fit your personality. Videos, music, and a background would do nicely. Finally, blurtit needs to place a list on this website listing all of the banned words. Sometimes, I have my debate responses removed due to unruly content. I saw nothing insolent about my response. I'm sure there are more things I can complain about, but no one wants to here that.

This is the Myspace for geeks. We shall be enabled to embellish our profile as such.
- I would love If we could instantly see when our friend's come online & If we could instantly view & share messages in shout box without refreshing page again & again.
- I would also like to see the feature in which we could privately shout at each other i.e., our shout can only be seen by the person for whom it is sent.
- Ratings for questions should only be made by the poster of the question & same should apply for debates.
- Username should be allowed of more than 10 characters with more symbols.
- We should be able to search user by "username".
- Each Questions/Debates should be provided an "Add as favourite" option under it.
- Automatically marking questions as answered, by blurtit, should be banned.
- 10 Marks for asking questions & Max 5 marks for disapproved ones.

I think you covered it very well!
Older questions that are answered moved or removed to the question storage archive but instantly referenced to deny new questions of the same type for new blurters to understand that these questions have already been asked. But i think blurt it has sort of handled that already to a certain point. Debates that are older or no longer useful moved or removed. In otherwords ones that have already been answered by time .like who is going to be president in whatever year. Or how should we handle certain issues in goverment that have already been handled.should hillary be president things like that. I don't know how they would do it except to have someone physically go through and move questions and debates that are no longer a issue today except when someone tries to ask the same question or debate. I'm not saying to do away with old debates but move them to a archive where anyone can go and look at them and even start up a new argument on ones that will never be argued to a finished outcome. How about tracking the blurters with the highest points, fastest to reach the different levels,one with the most groups,with the most debates posted,most questions asked,most wuestions answered with five star rating. And so on.

i had more but i think you can get the idea. something like a stats page that everyone can look at. also a page of the history of blurt it and stats on it who started it.who runs it.how many people work on it.how long did it take from the idea to getting it up and running. and many more stats like this.

how about a blurt it crossword puzzle done by the blurt it group. once a week or once a day .
Debates and questions that are up for a week mysteriously disappear without an explanation. Does it really take that long? Capricious rules for posting of debates, for instance the initial statement can't be a question. Am I seeing things when the top all time debate is "Should Smoking Be Banned? ". If the mods determine our debates or questions need changing I would prefer to do the changing myself as their idea of what I'm trying to say just might conflict from what mine is. The current anonymity of the rating system makes it quite suspect, step on a few toes of those with a long memory and you'll be lucky to rise above a poor rating regardless of the quality of your answers.

I am finished with debates until they stop editing the debate premise the way they do. They took a debate premise i put forth and made it into a question that was just plain nonsensical. When they do that it makes the person who posted the original debate, me in this instance, look like a gibbering idiot. They should either accept it as written or delete it entirely. If they are going to make it in their own words, they should put THEIR name on it, so that if anyone looks stupid, it is who should look stupid.. THEM.

you do know you can change it back..and keep changing it .. Its like tug of war.. great fun :)
Unfortunately, ya cannot change it back when they take a debate and put it on the question page, like this one.
1) The already answered questions should be removed. 2) We should be able to see who rated our answer (i really want to know who rated my answer when i get a WOW). 3) If i post a msn on someone's shoutbox but i later i want to remove it, then i should be able to do it just like in facebook. ................. This much i can say right now. Lets see whether anymore idea pops up later. :)

I would love to be able to chat with a friend and not have to go back to my own page to see the answer, more of a live chat for only those you invite in, so if you want to offer information (like your email) that you don't want others to see you can.
I also get frustrated when I take the time to research answers for someone else and the question disappears. and one more thing, why doesn't any of the links in my email work, when I have an email saying someone wants to share a question I click on the link, but the question can't be found, so I have to search and search to find it, (oooh... It drives me crazy)

The debates not being messed with, IM would be great, a site- not an x-rated site, but a place where us older blurters can discuss "grown-up" issues that the younger age people have no clue how to answer, stop the darn editing of certain words, my god, that drives me crazy, stop rewording my questions asked, I will have to continue this after work because I have more but gotta go.

This may not have to do with site, but I'd love to see people who asked the question and we take our time to try to answer it to the best of our ability to rate the answers and give a comment.

I would like to have the instant messaging or chat feature most of all. I wish the insert a link would work. I would like to see the neggies and the hostiles kicked off of here, because they love hostility and that would make their day and rid the rest of us of the negative vibes! I am new to computers and all they are capable of, so I don't know which services are available other places so I think that these would be a good beginning.

Re-enable answering questions and leaving messages in Shout Boxes for users of Safari browser. It worked when I first came here. It took a special plea from Nascarnut to get me to boot-up my alternate browser.
I don't believe old questions and answers should be automatically deleted by a time clock. Good questions may need a long time for someone to come along with a truly helpful answer. Good answers are worthy of archiving. Some folk *do* bother to search to see if variations on their questions have been asked before. Without an archive, we couldn't legitimately "rag" folk for re-asking the same old questions.

Knowing who rated our answers could cause hard feelings and retaliation. It's not appropriate.
Debate ratings didn't work because people gave ratings on whether or not they agreed with someone's stance, rather than for the content of a response.

I agree with all above, especially with tiggersmom about the questions being removed and us losing points. Another thing i have noticed is that you cannot delete a question or debate for that matter that you posted by accident...for example, you have something you have been dying to ask in your head, but (like my one and only debate) i was unable to rather make it a question, as it was not a debate. They should give you an option i think. Another thing. Answers should or cannot consist of just one word...yes... People post questions to get a proper answer to things that are really important to them. I think those types of yes and no answers should be banned.just me i guess.

I'm fairly new to this site, so I'm not sure what changes should be made. I like this site. It's much better than the Yahoo Answers. I especially like the Debates Section. I highly suggest the Blurters website listen to everyone on the site and make improvements necessary to keep us more interested.

Sometimes there is a debate that sparks off a "true Debate" and it might be fun to have a chat area to take that debate to for real time one on one debating. The other thing is. Im new so maybe I just don't know how to do it yet. But it seems like you are only alerted of responses or comments made directly to your Original Post. It would be good to know when your comment on another's comments have been responded to rather than having to go back and forth.

As i have been reading, I have found that many of my ideas have been moved, but I thought it would be nice if there was sort of an Instant messenger deal, but I don't think chat rooms would be good for this site though. I also think that i should lose points because someone doesn't like my answer, i think that should be changed. For now that's what I can think of, but if i think of anything else, i will add it some other way..... But blurtit is a fun website besides!

Here is the WORST! In College we were taught that the name of the man who Invented the toilet was SIR C R A P E R, but the Brit's find that word Offensive! So you can not talk about one of the greatest Inventor's in the world! Even though he was a Brit, and Knighted by the Queen of England!

I answer mostly automobile questions and sometimes the poster of the question does not specify what type of vehicle they own, nor the year and model.
I would like to be able to ask for this information from the questioner, without having my answer dis-approved, because some of the questions are impossible to answer without any knowledge of the vehicle.

Let me Just say:
- - It would be nice if we had a private instant messenger where we could "shout" at each other live.
- - I would like to be alerted when someone left a comment to my comment both to the debate and to the question/answer section.
- - More avatar options
- -That we have the ability to move our debate answer from one column to another when we discover that we have misplaced it or just change our minds about it.
- -Personally, I see the point system more as a feedback rather than a contest. As much as I like getting high points, when I get low rates for my answers, it tells me something... I am glad I don't know who rates me low. I can always hear from those who rate me high. I am learning from both. So, in a way I like it the way it is right now.
- -On the other hand, if we could see who rated us and how, that may, and I say MAY help some people refrain from abusing their rating powers.

Again as i said the other day to some one.........they need to remove the answers given to questions in like a weeks time after it has been answered........most people do not care about having to run their mouse way down on a page to see what others had to say when there's 20 answers on one question.....and it would be nice to have others pics in their profiles....at least one good pic of them, i like to see what really some people look like,

I think it'll be cool if there is a section for the blurters to show their Ideas or thoughts in something like articles...but not too long articles.

The only major (in my eyes) improvement that I can see on the site is the ability for us to deliver "PM"s, personal messages to each other either while the recipient is on or off line, out of the eyes of everyone else.

- Ban trouble makers from the site
- Private conversations
- Debates not altered unless they give you a chance to reword your debate yourself. Not them rewording your debate.
- I agree with Omer. 10 pts. For asking questions and only -5 points for question disapproved.

Something needs to be done about the rude/ignorant blurters on this sight.
It truely sucks that a rating can be affected by personal feelings no matter how good an answer was.
If you see there is negative drama brewing between Blurter's, do something about it before it gets out of hand.
Also, we need a better variety of avitars to choose from....maybe something a bit more modern??? Some of us may not be able to download others. Thank you

I think I'm to late but I will answer anyways. I love this site but the one thing that needs to be change is the security level. People who are not blurters should not be able to look around this site. If they come from google for a question, they should only be allowed to see that question. So if you wanted to look around this website you have to have an account!

I love this site, but I would like it even more if we could:
- chat with friends and do IMing stuff on Blurtit.
- post videos and other related stuff.
- have more options for getting points.
- put ads up to advertise our groups. We can pay for the ads with our points!

When I get an e-mail invitation to share in a question and I click on the link, it hardly ever works. I get an error page. Soooo I would like the invitations to be accompanied by the proper category and sub-category so that I can easily find it. I almost didn't get to answer this question because I couldn't find it. lol Other than I don't see any other changes needed so far.
Oh, I don't think people should see who rates them. whoa...talk about some cat fights then!!! No, seriously, I try to rate people honestly. People who are friends might not rate according to how they honestly feel about the answer, because they don't want to hurt the feelings of their friends.

Right now what I can think of is Great Debates.......STOP this fighting on here ( when you don't feel well ) you don't even want to respond to people whom say Nasty thing to each other...To have a difference of opinion is one thing, To say things that that our uncalled for is another, this site is to learn from, make friends, to CONT to fight, this is why I haven't been on here, lately. I wanted to but when you are not up to it and you Log on to see Trash thrown at your PC..Who really needs that?

I'll tell you one thing that gripes me is the debates. Can we please follow standard debate procedure and begin with RESOLVED: That ________. It might help those who continually put their answer in the wrong column, and besides the way it's done now drives me nuts. For instance, not Should Smoking Be Banned? Rather, Resolved: Smoking Should Be Banned. That may not be the best example for the wrong column problem, but it's the proper way to state the topic.
Please, do not put in IMing. Lord, I have enough trouble with that online other places. Or if you do put it on, know that I won't answer so don't get your feelings hurt.
And please get rid of the "questions" in the right hand column that have been answered. I hate clicking on one and seeing it's already been answered. Maybe have an archive like someone suggested, but get it off the pages where we're looking for questions to answer.
