It is a very nice question indeed because Tamerlane was actually praised and respected art. He was patron of arts and literature in his life. Some of the great scholars were in his cabinet. He also liked to meet the poets and scholars and other people who have any relations in the arts.

During his different campaigns he normally forgave the people who were religious or spiritual leaders, or who were scholars or architects. He mentioned in his biography that is known as "Tuzk-e-Timrui" his meetings of different historians, poets and scholars during his campaigns. And he gifted them different kind of things.

Some prominent names like the Persian poet Hafiz Sherazi was one of them. Similarly a very famous historian named Ibn Khaldun was also in the cabinet of Tamerlane.

Tamerlane also worked for arts and the buildings he made are still the masterpiece of the structure. They are now in the country named Uzbekistan and the city name of Tamerlane is the same as in the days of Tamerlane that is Samarqand.

It is also credited to him that he had created a new style of chess which had the resemblance with the present style of playing chess. Similarly he is considered one of the best artisans in the selection of architecture. Many buildings from the Tamerlane dynasty are still present in the Samarqand.
