    Minerals are basically natural compounds, which are formed with the help of geological processes. The word "mineral" encompasses not only the resources chemical masterpiece, but also the mineral's arrangement. Minerals range in composition from untainted rudiments and easy salts to very compound silicates with thousands of acknowledged forms, which do not comprise of organic compounds. The learning of minerals is called mineralogy.

    There are at present just over 4,000 recognized minerals, according to the International Mineralogical Association, which is accountable for the support of and identification of new mineral types found in the natural world. Of these, perhaps 150 can be called "common," 50 are "occasional," and the rest are "rare" to "extremely rare."
