I'm sure the NSA does have a separate group whose sole purpose is to intercept that type of communications. At least i HOPE they do. Maybe the public isn't informed of all the calls we do overhear. I don't know, maybe it's just a naive hope. If they don't, you're right, our priorities are bassackwards! But that's nothing new with us, right?!!

God forbid we don't read a combatant terrorist his Miranda rights! And let's throw the officers in prison who subdues an illegal drug-smuggling alien at the border. Maybe we should employ some law breaking tax evaders in our government to get the economy in order. Oh, I forgot...we did that already. My bad.

If they are non citizens, and if they are a threat to national security- then privacy goes out the window in my book.  If it were not for these messages being intercepted we'd have suffered tons more terror attacks.  Many were thwarted because of intercepted messages.
Someone has "switched the price tags" here in the USA.

People seem to forget that it was a DEMOCRATIC house for the last two years that Bush was in office....so you can't lay it on happening under the last President ALONE!  Everything must be passed thru Congress, Senate etc for a majority vote, BEFORE it gets to the Pres.....we currently have a Democratic Pres. And the house is still Democratic and until that changes.....it won't get better.

Nor will it get better with a republican, house, home, senate, congress or anything else things are in such a array that most of us will be dead because there is a lot of greed, people are out to line their own pockets and help special interest groups and the heck with the constituents, now that this President is on the verge of giving the house back to the people as it should be,people are still complaining you can't make everyone happy.

Patriot act. Does not apply to non-patriots. The one stupid loophole in that piece of Cr@p. Is the fact that people who actually hate this country are outside of its jurisdiction.

For the same reason that we signed a treaty agreeing not to assasinate a political leader, even the likes of the madman Saddam Hussein, who gassed to death 100,000 of his own people. So instead of blowing his head off, we have to go to war to get rid of his Hitler-like behavior and regime. So the answer is hypocracy coupled with a strong dose of spineless stupidity.

          People People People

I have read that almost 50% of Americans do not beleive the official 911 conclusions.
The rest of the world is the same.

          • Passport fluttering from the sky which identified one of the hijackers from a fireball?

          • Half of the so called terrorists still alive and well.

          • An Airliner hit the Pentagon, no wreckage? Fuel? Seats? Luggage? Bodies? Witnesses? Footage?

          • An airliner crashed into a field. No wreckage? Seats? Luggage? Bodies? Witnesses?

          • A doomed passenger on the phone to his mother giving her his full name?

          • The way both towers collapsed as in demolition.

          • Building 6 collapse as in demolition.

One could go on all day. Maybe the Arabs or Muslims are not the ones to fear.
          Maybe it is our own?

While the agents of destruction are unnamed. The instruments of destruction, commercial jets loaded with fuel, is entirely plausible.

We can, but only within the boundaries of law. Much of what was done by the bush administration broke OUR OWN LAWS. Pull your head out...
