How To Handle Sexual Harassment?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

"Sleep with me and I'll give you a promotion," is an obvious example of sexual harassment, but what about those dirty jokes and embarrassing sexual innuendo? They might be, depending largely on their frequency and egregiousness of the statements, the effect upon the victim as well as the power disparities in the relationship.
Blatant "quid pro quo" requests for sexual favours in exchange for career rewards account for less than five per cent of the complaints nationally. The majority of sexual harassment falls under the murkier tactics of "creating a hostile environment," which includes sexual innuendo, unwelcome touching, posting printed or visual sexual materials and sexual jokes.
The best way to deal with sexual harassment is to tell someone about it. Go to the human resource department and report it. Try to gather as much proof of the same as you can so that you can be confident and prove your case before anyone.
