How Do You Give A Shot?

Answer Question

Giving a shot means injecting in the fatty tissue below the skin. This is also known as subcutaneous injection. The following things are needed to give a shot: a syringe with a needle, drug which comes in a vial, alcohol swab or cotton made wet with alcohol, and metal container with a tightly secured lid.

Make sure that the needle is tightly connected to the syringe. Remove the plastic cap of the needle to unleash its pointed form. If your needle touches any surface including your finger, you will need to replace it.  Turn the vial upside down, holding the syringe and needle in place. The tip of the needle should be in the drug solution. Pull the plunger back by the knob. This will squeeze the drug into the syringe. Keep pulling on the knob till the drug reaches the dosage limit.

While giving the injection; gently pinch up the skin around the area where you will administer the shot. Hold firmly and insert the needle at a 45- to 90-degree angle. Once the needle is in, remove your grip from the skin. Let the needle remain inside the skin for seconds. Pull back on the plunger gently. Push down on the plunger until the drug solution reaches the skin.
