Ian Anderson was born on August 10, 1947 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. He is the lead singer, flute player, and the main man in the rock band known as Jethro Tull. Jethro Tull is a popular UK rock band.
Ian has been a musician all of his life. In addition to singing, he is also a very fine flute and guitar player. He formed the band Jethro Tull in 1967 and they played a mixture of rock, blues, and folk music.
When Ian Anderson is not playing music, he is also a very successful businessman. He is the owner of more than forty salmon farms.
In 1970, he married Jennie Franks who was a photographer that is mainly credited with writing many of the lyrics to the song, Aqualung. They divorced in 1974.
In 1976, he married Shona Learoyd. Together, they had two children and are currently living in Scotland.
