Answer Question

4 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are many types of yoga, which range from very gentle to very rigourous exercises. Yoga originated in India as a spiritual discipline meant to help the practictioner to experience divine energy within his or her own body. The spiritual roots of yoga continue to permeate the discipline; it is an exercise that tends not only to the physical body but to the spirit.

For this reason, it is a very popular form of exercise for people who want to enhance their lives in a holistic, rather than just physical, way.

Yoga helps the body to become more limber and flexible. The mental discipline also helps those who practice yoga to be more flexible in life. By learning to surrender to yoga poses, practitioners learn to surrender to experiences in life.

As well, yoga can improve circulation as well as encourage weight loss. Other benefits are an increased awareness of the body and a feeling of grace and well-being.

Yoga is said to affect and benefit all parts of the body. At a physical level it revitalizes the entire body and exercises all the muscles, tendons and joints. It also ensures that your body become more flexible and toned. Since yoga is a milder and gentler form of exercise it is said to work wonders. It also helps in the detoxification of the whole body by increasing the blood supply to the various parts of the body thus flushing out the toxins. At a more spiritual level it is said to be the union of the mind, the body and the spirit. Yoga often goes hand in hand with mediation that helps the mind to calm down and deal better with whatever pressure that there is around. One of the best things that yoga helps achieve is emotional stability.

Yoga is a mental excercise as well as a physical excercise.
The best technique for any person contemplating to take up yoga is not to contemplate but to concentrate - on how yoga and its techniques is escalating into a world wide epidemic where yoga exercises are helping ailing patients and others who seek peace of mind.
