When Was Burnley Football Club Founded?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Burnley Football Club was founded in 1882 and they were one of the original twelve clubs that formed the Football League in 1888.

Burnley is located in north-east Lancashire and has played at it's home ground of Turf Moor since 1883. The ground has a capacity of around 22,500 seats.

The nickname for the club is the less than original 'Clarets' which refers to the colour of the team strip.

Burnley are a reasonably successful club historically. They have won the FA cup once, when they beat Liverpool in 1914 at Crystal Palace, which used to be the ground where FA cup finals were held.
Burnley have also won the League twice in 1921 and 1960.

Burnley currently play in the Championship division with Steve Cotterill as their manager.
During the 2005/06 season, they finished towards the bottom of this table in a disappointing 17th place.
