When Will Our Hens Begin To Lay Regularly?

We have six hens that have just begun to lay, one egg about 8 days ago and another yesterday. Not sure if it is the same hen laying or not. When will they begin to lay regularly? They have proper light, nests, adequate water and a constant supply of food.

My chickens are just starting to lay . It seams like the lay better when I feed laying pellets than the mixed grain . They need some kind of small gravel . They told me at the feed store that the small gravel out of a creekbed will do . That's what I use . They drink plenty of water . They scratch around in the barnyard most of the day . Slowly all the hens are starting to lay . They are very different than the hens I had before . These will only get in a nest where they can see outside the chicken house from .

It depends how old they are. Anything above 20 weeks and they should start laying, HOWEVER, this time of year is when chickens moult, therefore don't lay as many eggs. You should get lots of eggs though this winter in they are about 20 weeks, otherwise, if they are over a year old, they will be moulting and not laying as much.

I live in missouri and it is about 30 degrees right now. My chickens haven't laid at all in a month. I usually won't see any eggs until spring when it warms up. If you are keeping it warm in there they should lay good. Except for young hens they are unpredictable. Give them some laying mash  they love it and it helps with egg production and oyster shell to make your eggs more firm so they don't break easily. Hope this helps you.

My brother just recently starting raising hens. Gorgeous little things. He has 8 of them running around his yard. They are about 4-5 months old and just recently started laying eggs. He was told that they should lay about 1 egg per day.
