What Is A Hotel?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The word "hotel" comes from the French language and is derived from the Old French word "hostel". A hotel can be defined as an establishment that specializes in providing boarding and lodging facilities to travellers and paying customers. The services may at times include food, gymnasiums, spas, entertainment and several other amenities depending on the class and type of hotel. Hotels are not something new. Half way houses and inns have been in existence since ages; providing accommodation and meals to both the men and their mounts. Hotels were not always safe and secure; they were soft targets for brigands and highwaymen. Hotels have developed into an industry of sorts; known as hospitality. Staffs employed at hotels require some sort of formal training and hotels can cater to tourists, business travellers, conventions and a whole lot of other categories of clientèle.
