Advances in technology has made it extremely easy to buy and sell stocks on the NSE and BSE. You need a broker to trade in equities, derivatives, commodities or any other financial instrument. Traditionally brokers have been people who exist on the trading floor shouting the prices of different stocks.
Today the world has changed because of e-borkerage. There are firms who are willing to provide a 3 in 1 account:
1. Trading Platform or Broker services
2. Bank account that is connected to the trading platform
3. Demat account that is linked to the trading platform
Everytime you place an order to buy shares on the trading platform it will debit the money from your bank account and credit the shares into your demat account. There is a trading cycle of T+2 which essentially means that will take two days before the trade occurs and the shares on money is credited.
