What Does It Mean To Knit In Stitch Below (i.e., How Is It Done)?

I am knitting a hat in the round and the pattern calls for K1 in st below and it is increasing the work. I am concerned that I am not working the stitch correctly and the hat is getting too large (though I can't really tell until bind off). There is no explanation for this in any of the books I have or other websites. Any help is greatly appreciated! ;-D

Thank you for trying to be helpful.  However, I am an intermediate level knitter and have researched the internet and my home library for assistance.  It would be helpful if an actual knitter would address my question.

Knitting is a very skillful task and it is not possible for an ordinary person to knit out the cloths, hats or anything else simply. The problem you're facing can be recovered easily if you concentrate a little more. Here I'm giving you the link from where you can get the solution of your problem by reading it carefully. Here is the link click here to see.
