How Can I Find Out The Value Of My Home?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

If you are considering selling your home you may contact a realtor and he will advise you as to the value of your home.  You can also contact your tax office and they will tell you what your home is on the rolls as being valued as.  Keep in mind, however, that the value on the tax rolls is usually lower than the actual $ value (in my city, at least).   With the economy as it is currently, your home value is more than likely less than it was only a few months ago.

In a free market, the value of a home changes according to the demand, which also changes according to the changes in economic conditions and your neighborhood. A local realtor will be best equipped to give you an overall evaluation based on those as well as the quality of your home. They can give you a list of homes sold recently similar to yours so you can have a rough idea what to expect currently.

Things will be different 6 months from now, and you'll have to re-evaluate again.
