What Do You Know About The Economy Of Tunisia?

    The economy of  Tunisia is growing steadily since 2004 due to its growth in agriculture and tourism sector. The GDP growth rate is continuously increasing as compared to last years. The GDP was 5.6 percent in 2003, 5 percent in 2005, and it is expected to grow 5.9 percent in 2006. Tunis on one side shows great economic performance but at the same time it is facing an extreme unemployment rate of 15 percent of the earning population. There are high external debts which has become a burden on the economy. Tunisia is trying  to grow its Information Technology sector but they have not yet succeeded.

    Agriculture contributes 12 percent to the Gross Domestic Product. The main agriculture crops are vagaries, cereals and olive oil. Tunisia has some mining resources like Oil, Iron and gas.  Tunisia is also the world's major producer of Phosphate.  Textile is the major industry and manufacturing contributes 20 percent of the Gross Domestic Product. Tourism is one of the main industries of the Tunisia and it attracts five million tourist per year. Tunisia is facilitating foreign investors to make more resources for the foreign investors and providing them with good infrastructure facilities.
