What Is Baptism?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Baptism is the Christian ceremony in which a child or a convert is initiated into Christianity that is marked by application of water to the head or immersion, that is thought to purify the soul. For children, the ceremony is also that of naming. The purpose of Baptism is to rid Christians of their sins so that in their new life they will find themselves with Jesus. The rites differ for different groups, while some allow either pouring water or immersion, others insist on immersion. Most churches Baptize infants, others allow adult Baptism.
